Ebay scam with my trailer

Post by bonester »

A few weeks ago I bid on a Classic motorcycle trailer on ebay and did not win the auction- it went too high for my liking. It was advertised in my town so it would have been an easy pickup. Next day I took one of my motorcycle clients for a lesson and we got started talking about ebay and it turned out that the trailer was her husbands! I was the third bid BTW. The guy who won the trailer sent a cheque to them and later got back to them saying that he now couldn't afford it and would they return his cheque. The second bidder sent them a rude email so they weren't going to offer the trailer to them, so I ended up with it! :D (really cheap too!)
Anyhow, the next day after the auction I received two emails from two different email addresses claiming to own the trailer and offering me a second chance offer for the trailer. Both links from the emails led to the Phillipines Ebay and the page requested my login details to enable me to 'purchase' the trailer on the second chance. I'm betting this is how people get their account details on ebay stolen.
Being the type to shitstir occasionally, I sent the following to both email addresses last night:

Hello
I would like to purchase the trailer from you. Please give details of how you are going to deliver it to me and of how I can pay you when you deliver it.
Thanks
Tony

Received this morning from one of them:
I must tell you that now I'm in Uk with business but this is not a problem because once the payment is confirmed through an eBay payment method, my wife will ship you the item.In order to purchase the deal through ebay I need your full name and shipping address,I will contact ebay and they will send you the invoice with all the details you need to complete the deal safe and fast for both of us,under ebay protection.
I will pay for the shipping and insurance and I will provide you 10 days money back guarantee, no questions asked. That means within 10 working days you decide if you don't want to keep the
item.
Thank you and let me know

BTW his email addy is :william0stevenson@yahoo.com and the other is hart02flobr@aol.com. I wonder how many people have been caught by scamming bastards like these?

I was bidding on a bike on ebay and didn't win it, then about two weeks later got an email offfering me a second chance offer, luckly I still had the rightful owners email address and phone number, (it was a wreckers) so I called them and they told me that the bikes were sold and that a couple of nights ago they had there offices broken into and there pc's stolen.
Anyway with the details that the thieves gave us the police were able to get the bad guys.

Talking about e-bay … “Buyers Beware”

Post by Princess »

Had the same thing just recently happen to me. I received an ebay email via my hotmail account advising me I’d won a second chance offer on a bike I bid on - ZXR750 excellent cond, Melbourne. As follows;

- I have bid on 0 items from free2live0 Registered On:www.ebay.com

My dear bidder,

Good news! The following eBay item on which you placed a bid is again available for purchase at your last bid amount:

Item name: KAWASAKI ZXR 750 MINT CONDITION
Item number: 280002529106
Your Price: AU $

I made you this offer because the winner of the auction is unable to complete this transaction at this time. If you accept this offer the transaction will go strictly according to eBay's rules and policy regarding to this Second Chance Offer. If you accept this offer contact me ASAP at: GavinRasol@aol.com .Do not use the Respond Now Button through eBay because I will not be able to respond in due time, just copy and send this text to me at : GavinRasol@aol.com ,for a faster response which will increase your chances to purchase this item.

Thank you for your time,
Gavin Rasol

The seller also said they would cover the cost of shipping and insur and sent me a shipping request asking for name, address, mobile etc…. Then went on to explain they were in a hurry to process the transaction as they were currently in the US, but going to the UK in a couple of days. Further this went into detail how they had an E-bay Inc account holding $20,000 USD as a guarantee of they’re seller status, etc…. and that I should send payment.

You should send payment to:
F/L name: Gavin Rasol
Address: 405 Kings Road
City: London; Country:United Kingdom
Zip: SW10 0BB

I was heading interstate the next day, so I wasn’t in a hurry to conduct the transaction (LUCKILY) and advised the seller I’d be away for at least a week and if they’d be so kind as to provide a few more details/ answer a few questions. Over the next six days details were not properly addressed or not provided at all.

What the seller didn’t know was I had written to ebay as I hadn’t received the second chance offer in my ebay account.

Ebay advised:- The message you received is fraudulent and is not from eBay's Second Chance Offer program.

So, I didn't get that 750 after all..... [img][/img]
