Nup, cos you'd usually have your mirrors taped up as well, no need to worry about whats going on behind you on the track

Its so the marshals know what ride group you should be in, usually colour coded based on slow, med, or fast group.
Or at the superbike school its so the instructors know which bikes they should be looking after.
Most times its just a thin strip. But if they go the whole hog, and cover the whole lights its to "try" and hold the glass together in the event of a stack, don't really think it would make much difference personally.

On a modern bike where ya cant turn off the big torch at the front a coloured bit of gaffa over the light is just a shadow. The Island dont require lights taped over but I do cover the whole light including lens cover coz of the glass/light itself keeping together in an off.
I tape over me indicator stalks too coz I found myself automatically indicating right going into the first hairpin at PI. (2nd pit entry corner)
Should tape the switch.
Just being polite or a bloody goose?

yeah I'm glad I use headlight covers on my 7 so no melting no mucking with fuses just 30 seconds with tape easy. Recon would be a few dollars to replace too Neka.Neka79 wrote:yea..the light can melt the tape over the lens neway, so i ussually take the whole light out if i have time (expensive to replace if u crash) but i always thought it was to try to keep the glass off the track if u crashed...
Stealth Hippo the last scrutinner called it. r6 rider?

A good tip is also to actually unbolt your mirrors and just put some ZIP TIES (is there ANYTHING a zippie is NOT good for) back through the bolt holes. Takes less time than taping them and you dont WANT to know whats going on behind you.
Tape up that speedo too, the last thing I need to know is how fast I am going to cartwheel at.....

A simple glance at the speedo at the end of the straight has you grabbing a lot more brake than you THINK you need.
You go into panic mode (or for ASS students) spend your whole $10 on the speed....

Well the mirror one I know... It's so that you don't look back at the "competitor" ... so I was told during briefing.
... so I was told during briefing.
I reckon the headlights make better pictures and should be turned on
  and should be turned on

I think women should be more like headlights, bright, silent, and always turned on,mrmina wrote:the headlights on a bike and not on a femalekellz wrote:what who is turned on??javaman wrote:I reckon better picturesand should be turned on

On the topic tho, you could just own a 96 ZX9R, and pull the plug off the back of the headlight globe, so much easier than taping.
