Extra weight on the front wheels- or- more unsprung weight.
Extra weight on the front wheels- or- more unsprung weight.
Not being a heavy weight like neka, (less than 60kgs), i don't think the makers of a lot of sports bikes had my in mind when they designed the bike. I'm riding an R6, and i know they are a little skitty, but the '03 model is better, trust me. Still i do have a bit of drama keeping the front wheel down, and keeping good front wheel traction in corners. So i've come up with an idea. It's a bracket that mounts to the sides of the front forks. It's 2mm perforated steel plate. You slip a house brick into each one, (left and right side) and they you have it. Immediate gain in unsprung weight! Even when riding 2up, i can keep that front wheel down. And when i want to go back to "normal" mode, i just take the bricks out.
Brilliant!!

re: Extra weight on the front wheels- or- more unsprung weig
Being 48kg and riding a front end flighty 161kg bike my front end really likes going up but I don't find any troubles around the corners and it doesn't really bother me. I just need a steering damper real soon cos I get headshakes often.
I don't really like the idea of having two bricks attached to either side of my forks, even though this is keeping the front end down I reckon you would be more inclined to recieve a nasty tank slapper. Spose though if it wokrs for you and you're happy with it then good on you. Got any pics? I don't think I would ever put it on my bike because she wouldn't be pretty anymore

Think I'll wait for the heavy duty "Besser Block Unit" to be available for my 54kg on the ZX9R Tiggr, maybe if you fitted it on rails so it could slide to the front under brakes an slide to the back after a fist full is applied. Corners exits are rear wheel steerable anyway.
Cheers Brett.
PS dont forget to Patent it champ.

Cripes!
Think of the performance advantage you lightweights get!! They make a big deal if they make a bike 2 or 3kg lighter...

Am i the only one to assume that you are joking? or is everyone else just going along with the joke? either way I feel a little left out. I have a ZX7 and weigh 77kgs so I have no real flighty front concerns.
That said ive seen a Katana drag bike with diving belt weights on the front axle.

Can i suggest
a cupla divers weight belts...
wrapped around the triple clamps will....

Ummm... Do you realise how much time and $$ went into making your bike that light??
I've found that the best way to stop the front rising is by using the right wrist action in moderation...

Suggestion ... drink heavily, eat substantial amounts on potato chips and then no worries......... it worked for me.. then again my bike weighs about 250kgs so it isn't that bad at holding the road...LOL

Re: re: Extra weight on the front wheels- or- more unsprung
I have had a full cooked breakfast, 4 rounds of sandwiches for lunch, and a restaurant meal for dinner for the last 24 months... I've only just broken the 60kg mark...ty wrote:can I suggest you ppl eat some more? 54kgs!! <60kgs!! 48kgs!!

re: Extra weight on the front wheels- or- more unsprung weig
I eat like a pig. I think I have the highest metabolism in the world which models and vein people alike would poke my eyeballs out for. I'm a horrible eater, Ive had 3 stomach ulcers since I was 12 for eating so badly! I'm usually McDonalds 3-5 times a week, pizza (cos I work in a pizza store), Milo cereal, Coke, Twisties and Nutella. That's about my diet. I'm gonna die of heart disease before Im 25!

Pontikat, dog was a German Shepard. Could stick head through car windows without jumping up...hehehe... I can still remember the local cop wouldn't get out of the car until I had locked him inside.
