ZX6R-C master cylinder on G-J-A

Post by Aussie Ninja »

Anyone thought about fitting a radial master cylinder off a 06 zx6r to an earlier model? Don't, it doesn't work. My master cylinder is stuffed so I thought I'd take the oppertunity to up spec it. There was a little bit of fiddling to make an '06 unit fit but nothing painful. Only problem is it doesn't move anywhere near as much fluid as the standard item so the lever is at the bar before any braking force is applied. So now I have a near new master cylinder to try to recoup my money from, and inevitable pointed questions from the missus about screwing around wasting money and not just paying to get the exhisting one rebuilt.

thats surprising, if the master cyl didnt move enough fluid 1) you sure you bled it properly, and assuming that is correct, 2) by all logic, unless i'm missing something, it sounds like the new model is running smaller sized pistons in the front brakes than older models!

Yeah, I thought my biggest problem would be brakes that were too touchy. I literally bled litres of fluid through in stuborn refusal of the fact it wasn't going to work. The piston size on the newer cylinder is actually bigger, but I guess the stroke is smaller. To take the resevoir from full to empty on the new one took say 25 pumps. When I refitted the old one it did it in 10. I thought the new one would definately work as the B has radial brakes but the same master cylinder as the older models. Mabye the internals of the calipers were re-designed and can do a better job with less fluid for the C :?:
