Post by WRT_GPX »

i was browsing through some ADR's last night and read somthing about bikes having to have fenders for roadworthyness, so has anyone here with a fender eliminator been nabbed or denied rego over it?

missing mudflap is a minor vehicle defect so 1 point and 75 dollars.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

I thought that if you fitted a hugger as well it would be OK, the fender is just there to stop the stones being flicked up, I may be wrong.

From my interpretation of the b-s the qld guys were having with this, the coppers even had issues with you cutting the mudflap down, i even heard of them hassling someone with an OEM gixxer mudflap cause they thought it looked a bit too short, despite being ADR compliant!

I tell you though, some of these fuckers that hassle people for this kind of stuff *REALLY* don't have anything better to do.

The Qld Fuzz have been using a home made Wooden Device to measure the angle from the rear axle to the Bottom of Fenders to determine Legality.
It's just one of the ways they are harrassing the sportsbikes of the Roads in an effort to "Save us from ourselves".

At least they have'nt been making any noise 'bout aftermarket "Zorsts" :P

yea its not the motor transport mob that police it tho , its the cops.... what passes for RWC may be legal, but doesnt stop cops from picking on ya if they really want... as ponti said above, they measure how far over the wheel the guard goes, which is what the fender is meant to do, and NO a hugger will not suffice...

I think it depends where you live too. In Melbourne they don't seem to hassle people as much as other states (as long as you're not doing anything stupid). I didn't even know mine was cut down till I saw what a standard one looks like.

The relevant ADR code can be found here on page 7 http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safe ... lations%22 That is why the cops use a 45 degree set square.

good post neil

just read through it and found that the rego label cant go on the rear which i thought could !

i think a few people put it on the rear to spin it around and cover the plate, they might start handing out fines if they catch people with it on the rear...
