Bike wash ..for the bike
(CT18 or equivalent)
and the chain guard/chain?
kero is good
or you can be a 'particular' person like myself
and clean everywhere (cept the chain)
with polish..on a cloth or old toothbrush (for the lil areas)
the chain? I use chain lube to clean...and lube it
hth
cheers

Re: best degreaser
best degreaser I have used is 'Kenco', you have to dilute this stuff, and rinse it off aluminium areas quick smart. It is good shit. You can use it 'neat' for really dirty steel wheels, sprockets etc, but wear rubber gloves.hidepenny wrote:what's the best degreaser ava in the market or ava in k-mart or something, i'm thinking to clean the bike thoroughlyespecially the chain and guard area

CT18 is a good all-round cleaner, my local Auto-Pro bloke just put me onto a Meguiars product - 'The Gold Class' car wash - it's also good shit.

Kenco being one of the worst offenders.Just avoid any of the alkaline degreasers as they can strip your anodising off

THe $2 Supercheap degreaser is pretty much pressurized kero - perfect. I use it and CT18, followed by a few coats of a good quality wax on the appropriate surfaces.

Saki wrote:$2 super cheap, i usually buy 4 cans at a time, plus they have big 4L containers of Kero for $12 i usually pick that up or goto the $2shop and pic up the same ammount for about $8
$2 can for wheels, and any surfuce with shitty oilly crap, other wise kero for chain + sprocket with toothbrush!

or you get it when they have a supersale and buy 2 cartons at a buck a canmike-s wrote:Just do yourself a favour and buy a box of the $2 export stuff, $24 and you've got 12 cans of it. Add a toothbrush and your set.

failing that buy kero from the older servos that have the old kero fuel pump, usually a buck a litre and use it in a pump up spray gun
recently when i had the ZZR250 took the sprocket cover off went to the self serve car wash with a $2 ($1) can of degreaser and thankful for the centre stand was clean and spiffy and looked like a brand new chain and sprockets in no time

While we're at it, does anyone have any sensational ideas on how to clean your front sprocket?
Mine is covered with a side cover and has a sensational quantity of goo oozing out underneath it.
And, if that Aus Export stuff is just pressurised kero, can you see any problems using it on your chain? (I'm thinking spray is easier than a soaking rag/toothbrush).
