Go and find out what those parts are worth new. Plus labour to replace them. Then factor in customer dissatisfaction if it isn't put back to absolutely pristine condition...
The insurance company just doesn't want the hassle.

How much did the insurance policy plus excess cost him???

Just add that to whatever they think they will get for it at auction because when the write off they dont return the balance of the policy.

Whats the payout figure???

Thats how they work and with the cabs your policy used to be for a amount that reduced Quaterly I just loved that I reckon if you put out your hard earned to insure for xxx amount that is the amount not some other amount.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

I bid on an 05 model at an auction recently. It had got a smack in the bum and wrecked the tyre, scratched the exhaust, cracked the tail section and broke the taillight and indicators. I was looking for the damage that wrote it off. :? Apparently, that was it. It sold for $2300

I got mine at the auctions its an 06 Z750 with 4600km cost 4500. It was droppped on the right side scratheds to front brake assembly RH mirror RH handlebar weight broke the RH foot peg bracket, dent to tank scrath on front fairing small dents in exhaust and scratches to RH engine covers. Not all that much damage for the price I paid i think plus Ive got comprehensive insurance for market value which I guess is around $10000. So overall I'm not complaining

Until you have an off and the insurers check the register to see that they have paid out on "it" already........far better to have an "agreed value" not market pricing

Goin through this at the moment... Dropped the ZZR again! Have put it in for a quote - came back $2200 to fix (WTF?!)... so I am guessing a write off... Insurance guy is going out tomorrow to assess the damage... The smash repairs are going to tell him that I don't want it written off I want to save it so not to replace with genuine parts and repair instead of replace where possible...

Fingers crossed everything will go through ok...
