I have a Big Cat

Post by hoffy »

Howdy,

Was round at damo's fitting a hugger to the 12 today, and we pulled the pipe off to have a looksee, and was greeted by the biggest ugliest *thing* ever seen in an exhaust. It seems to be a cat.

has anyone pulled this thing out? it is welded in but could be pulled with some creativity..
Even with a bolt on it would still be there as the can slips over it when it bolts on.

also was surpised at just how light the can was on this, my ZRX can was heaps heavier.

1. Apply broom stick liberally
2. Give engine big rev to remove residual cat
3. Fit slip-on

Its the cat converter mate, and after a ride, you should take a look down the 'zorst.... the bloody thing glows red like the fires of Hades !

I read on the US zx12r forums that they just bash the fuck out of this with a hammer and a large cold chisel, do the big *Rev* ( aim exhaust in middle of backyard, not towards shed  ), and thats it.......

Personally, I would rather not attack my 12 with a hammer  , so will leave it in and just replace the whole 'zorst at some stage...

i believe he took some pics of it this morning.

i had a short go, i have two words to say after that little jaunt, and those two words would be "fark" and "me"

sounds good too

and i think you'll be surprised as too how much it cost, alot less than i would have thought
