New Tyres... I'm about due..

New Tyres... I'm about due..
Well my back tyres has a nice flat spot down the centre.. So I'm gunna have to replace it in the up coming weeks..
I just don't know what to replace it with..
Current set up is BT012 on the front and a Metezeler on the front..
Harley Heave have quoted me $265-280 for just about anything...
Pirelli, Dunlop, Bridgestones, Metezelers???
I was thinking about going with the Pirelli Diablo for $280
But def didn't want to bother with the BT012 again..
Peoples thoughts??

Just don't do what I did last time. I went out to the local bike shop for a bit of a look around at lunchtime. On the way out I dragged a few cars of from the lights ('cause I could), got to the shop and was showing my friend how worn my rear tyre was...and all the threads starting to hang out.icebreaker wrote:Well my back tyres has a nice flat spot down the centre.. I was a bit late back from lunch, by exacty the amount of time it takes to get a new rear tyre fitted

To be honest you can still make out the tread pattern in the middle.. but it's pretty bad.. More traction for straight line take offs i recon...
Gunna smoke the f'er the day it gets replaced... Cause then i'll have to be well behaved..

Everyone seems to like the Metzelers so I'm going to try them sometime soon - dunno about the diablo's

I still prefer the bridgestones. As mentioned elsewhere, the 012's only lasted me about 7,000 kays. And that was down to the canvas. Not sure what it is about the 012's you guys don't like. Sure, they wear quickly, but what do you expect from such a soft compound tyre?
I now have 020's on the front, and 012's on the rear. Can't fault them yet. Although I do need new front pads, but thats another story.
I have heard excellent things about the Michellins, and suspect I'll try them next time.

They stick really well and feel well on the road.
But the sides of mine have almost had their day after 2500kays - that wear rate is just too impractical for anything apart from track use.
I'll probably get another couple of thousand out of them with freeway use - but I need to go easy on the twisties for a bit till I can afford a new front

Michelin Pilot Sport was replaced by the Michelin Pilot Power.
Apparently they heat up a little quicker than the Pilot Sports used to. I have Pilot Sports front and rear, I love the rear but the front is wearing unevenly.
It's really weird to see how it wears. One edge of one 'block' is worn and the edge of the next block isn't. I have been told that this is common.
I hope Michelin have 'fixed' the problem with the new Pilot Power.
It doesn't leave me with great confidence in the front end.
I'd love to try the new Pilot Power front. I might give it a go soon.

have you tried the tyre joint on elizabeth st, the bob jane tmart motorcycle tyre centre. The guy there is a mate of a mate and he does some good prices sometimes. his name is tim.icebreaker wrote:

He's obsessed with the 012's but he doesn't pressure into buying them.
