i finally got my new sprockets on and loved it, bike felt awesome in the low range. no regrets what so ever. i meet up with a few friends and we decided to go for a drive so i took my bike, on the way we went to the city, but i pulled out before i got into george st (syndey) because it was to packed so i went home.
I was riding down parramatta road towards parra and as i passed silverwater road, my bike turned of, everyhting blacked out, i managed to roll it into a street. i tried clutch starting it but nothing.
when i bought the bike, the ignition barrel only had one screw in it. so the other side is loose. i figured out that's why it turned of, it keeps cutting out every time it moves. I then called my cousin and he brang his van down and we put it in there and took it home,
if the ignition barrel isnt put on properly can it casue the whole bike to black out, i havent had a problem like this, and its been loose for a while, the screws on it are tiny and hard to find.
all the wiring seems fine to be honest, a few guys have looked at my bike and it has a few problems but its clean. its jus when i have the bike on lock to the left it will light up but wont crank anymore. if i turn it straight it cuts out. has anyone heard of such a situation?
any ideas on how to fix this, im planning to take into the shop this monday so i can be ready for the tj's dyno day.
cheers guys.

given its different symptoms based on steering lock, could it not be that wired being pulled and then shorting on some part of the frame???

it works and starts, but because the other screw is not on it, if i move it around it turns of, i try to see what screws i can put on it, and it might be a simple fix.

well i also had the issue a few weeks earlya of one of the wires coming of the back of the ingition. and yes it would sometimes cut out and cut back in.. so yeah might get in and have a look at the back of it if you can.

yeah, might have to, i was thinking to taking it into the shop, because i need to get the tensioner tightened up on it and i have a engine leak, but the bloke isnt picking up his phone, so tomorrow ill open her up and try and screw it on and see if it still cuts out.
if it does, you think i might need a new igniton barrel. or to rewire it?

well for my bike there was no option to remove it besides drilling it out... and i was ppfftt to much effort hahaha so my old man rewired it done a wonderful job on it
dunno seems to be that we have a very diy attatude towards the bike.... which might explain why its never on the road for more then 2 weeks straight

Re: BROKE DOWN on parramatta road yesterday( sat night 18-10-08)
ahahahhahaha thats so true, where the ignition is, i checked the screws, they are very wierd, its a bullet head screw with not phillips or flat head screw on the top, so i cant get it of, must rip it out or with pliers, i tried fitting in a few screws on the other side but they didnt match the thread, so i don't know how im going to get the other side on.
is it possible that the wreckers or any motorbike shop can supply me with such screws that i can bolt the ingiton barrel on properly. i don't want to put any other screws on.
what you guys think?
