*updated vid** Track Bike.. (95 ZX6R) Close to being burnt!
Well..... I am currently trying to sort out my track bike (95 ZX6R), to try and get a track day in before the move! It started ok, however is sluggish on the throttle, with a bit of spluttering going on.....
Hmmm only real issue I have is having nowhere to really test it or run it for a bit to see how it goes without driving the neighbours crazy (damn med density housing !) .... bearing in mind that it has basically sat pretty much unused for almost 2 years ...... only had a brief failed outing post my OP stack on 20 Apr 08......
any ideas..... ?

Re: Track Bike...... (95 ZX6R)
there's a 99% chance it will be crap/varnish/gum/more crap in the carbs from the stale fuel blocking up your orifii, I've just been through an identical situation with my mates 97 ZX6, full stripdown of the carbs, soak all components, blow out with compressed air & poke tiny bits of wire down all the passages. Runs like new now.

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

Re: Track Bike...... (95 ZX6R)
welll................................... this fucking bike is killing me!
Gave it a bit of a run just before, and all was going relatively ok...... until I went down a hill..... it then has decided that it no longer wants to propel me, and that in fact I should be generating the physical force required to rotate its wheels.....
So I managed to get about 2/3 of the way back up the farkin hill..... and was chernobyl'ed and had to phone my wife to come and help me push the fucking thing! Because in Cremorne..... we do not help ppl pushing mere kwaka's up a hill... So my wife helped me push the thing the last 100 odd metres back to home.... it came very close to becoming a fire feature on the nature strip.......

Re: Track Bike...... (95 ZX6R) Close to being burnt!
id check your floats in the carbs arn't sticking?????
if you want to try something easy, go to MCAS and get some MOTUL carb/injector cleaner, take off airbox, start bike and spray carb inlets and rev a bit, spray as much as u want as it wont hurt it
being sat for a while id say that your carbs are gummy and there sticking, so to save fucking around with the carbs try this first you never know
oh its a stupid question,,,,,,,, fresh fuel??

+1 vote for carbs gummed up. My 500 was the same when I bought it all those years ago, as was my 250 track hack last year. Unused bike + fuel in bowls = gummed up orifices all over the place.

What kind of fuel did you put in it? Not Shell V Power Racing?

I know the frustration my 96 F2 600 had a similar prob after some searching I came across someones personal notes about the carbies (at a reputable Kawa shop with a resident racer) check out your carbs for crap and clean them and before you finally put them together check your float levels if you make the level 18 or 19 mm (that's about 2mm above the manual) you will have no flat spot and great power right through the rev range have fun I know I am good luck
If your not scraping it or scratchin it your not riding it hard enough!! Keep it shiny side up

Serves you right Swabio, you should've just given it to me to look after and I would've fixed it for you

That would have been the go ! I know that his tyre-warmers were kept on high rotation over a number of track days while he was away !! It kept them almost brand-new !!
keep up the hard yards Rich - it will be worth it in the end. You might be able to trailer it out to OP and just run it around the car-park there, on a track day where you don't actually *enter* - just use the facilities to get it working properly. Use the old carports behind the control tower, there is heaps of room to just blat around and sort it out......and more importantly......no hills !!!

Hmmm well..... I went and picked up my package from the post office...... went down into the garage.... and.... hmmm as I pulled the rear fairing off to prepare for the wiring harness exchange / check...... what did I notice ? A loose lead from one of the relays..... plugged it back in.... and it fired up straight away.....
is there anyone mechanically minded in the Cremorne area that would be willing to wander over for a quick look at the track muppet / provide advice etc???
