porous head on new ZX14

Post by silverzx14 »

HI, has anyone else has the problem of a porous head that allows water to leak out of the motor. Just bought a demo ZX14 from Sydney Motor Cycle ( never again) and it was to be transported up to Brisbane. next get a phone call to say that it needed a new head as water was leaking out of it. 600KLMs old ? Any way 1 month later bike has turned up but not a good start with it or the crew at Sydney Motor cycle, very unhelpfull and nofollow up or call back.
I was told that this is very rare fault and that is why they had to get the parts from Japan , true or false , any feed back out there on this problem or delings with SMC ??

Porous Aluminium, doesn't sound as uncommon as you might think. I'd get onto SCM again and then also onto Kawasaki oz to find out if there's anything they know of as a problem, lest you take it to a bikeshop for warranty inspection.

Send the farker back it should be under warranty... or contact your local Kwaka dealer and get them to contact Kwaka Australia and they should be able to do the warranty work

OUCH......your post reads as if they sold you a bike they new had a problem but wanted ownership transfer before they tried to fix it .........consummer affairs??....money back.........as for porosity in castings as already said it is not uncommon.

They evently got the bke up here , with the new head on it. It had damage onthe pipes , a mirror and a stratch on the tank. Take about adding insult to injury.
I asked about extended warranty on the job done plus help on the Damage and they were useless . Got most of the way up the ladder and still no help. Sydney motor cycles are a real disappointment !!
The bike is great but the service makes it a bit sour . :x
