zx12r zx10r comparison
Just wondering what the differences in riding of a zx10r and a zx12r. I currently have the 07 zx10r and was wondering how much of a beast the 12 was compared to a 10

Let the good times roll.

Are you trolling or just stirring up the local barge riders dude???
IMO-
10 = unfknblvble swallow your own tongue kinda FAST!!
12 = NOT exactly a 'slow' bike
10 = If it were you girlfriend , you would be watching your mates REALLY closely!!
12 = Girl next door kinda nice !!
10 = Eats rear tyres
12 = Eats rear tyres
10 = Shit bike for touring
12 = Better bike for touring
10 = Even DB screen is purely for aesthetic purposes
12 = Screen offers some protection from the elements
10 = Looks ghayy with a rack
12 = Looks stoopid with a solo cowl
10 = leaves big acceleration blackies out of corners (with a touch of headshake)
12 = leaves big acceleration blackies out of corners (without a touch of headshake)
10 = Track bike with indicators
12 = Very fast road bike

no comparison, one is a hypersport, other is a sports tourer.

If you want to carry a pillion regularly, get the 12. If you think, screw you pillion this is my bike and I want to ride it myself, get the 10. The technology on the 10 is more up to date eg Slipper clutch etc, plus nicer bits, the 12 is a bit more old school, not that that's a bad thing.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

nah, not stirring, just curious about the other big sports bikes out there. And i like your little comparo
What is the power like, more down low. The 10 is just absurd at 7000rpm+ but usually you would be breaking all speed limits at this stage

Re: zx12r zx10r comparison
In a nutshell - if you are comparing apples to apples, you can really only compare the 12 to the Crim. The 06 12 was identical to the 05 except for the paintjob....
and when you compare the 05 ZX10 to the 05 ZX12 - the difference is about 40kg in dry weight, and SFA in rear-wheel horsepower.
If you like riding a bigger, heavier bike - then get a 12. Personally, I much prefer the added weight of my Barge, because it feels right for me. A 10 is still a heap of fun for sure, and if you are lightly built, or just prefer a lighter bike with tons of hp - then the 10 will be the bike for you

Re: zx12r zx10r comparison
from what I have seen , under the 'silly' part of the 06-07 10's rev range the 12 can walk away in a roll on / same gear kinda situation.... The 12 is by design a very torquey yet very flexible engine much like the CBR1100XX etc ..zx-10r wrote:

But again , more weight + longer wheelbase and more touring oriented body position makes the 12 a better all rounder IMO.. The 10 is just plain nuts and a lot harder on older bones

its mile eating ability

Re: zx12r zx10r comparison
what sort of other mods have you made to this ZX12R to pull over 200hp at the crank ??greg wrote:Can't compare never been on zx10r....my 02 zx12r last week had on the dyno at 190hp wih power commander...had full map now running at 203hp...![]()

Mine, with a properly-mapped PCIII, half Yoshi exhaust, TRE, secondary flies removed, BMC filters and 1 tooth down on the front - pulls an honest 155hp at the back wheel.
I can only guess that you must have bumped up the capacity to buggery, fitted big cams and also done a lot of work to the cylinder head - port job, big valves, that sort of thing ??
Here is the dyno sheet.....
