doubt you would have
a stretched cable on a new bike. Is there any free play in your throttle? You could of over tightened it at the adjusters causing a slight pull on the thottle when he bars are turned

Have you done any mods? Exhaust (flapper valve cable?), crash knobs (Rubbing on throttle cable/mech), or simple moved the cable to where is snags. It sounds more like a cable routing issue than cable adjustment.

Check that it isn't the grip. I had a sticking throttle on my old zx7r. It only ever stuck after I had tied it down on for taking to the track (good place for it to happen!) and it was always due to the grip being pulled by the tie down.
Make sure the grip is clean and not binding at all.

Back off the adjusters so you've got some free play. If it's wound up so that there's no play for some reason the throttle backs off really slowly.

You beat me to it Glen.
Yep you should have a little free play otherwise it does pull when you stretch the cable in any shape or form.
Other than this try some Silicon spray down the throttle cable and housing. Might be sticking slightly.

I think I should wind mine right up on the tracky so it doesn't back off at all.....

Or you can play with the nut adjuster near the tank area achieve alittle more size and firmness
