08 ZX10R M4 power questions

Post by Saki »

Hey guys,

Just came back from a spirited ride and was running the bike through its paces and was focusing on feeling for the difference in power between the stock system and the M4..

Now its hard to make an accurate call, but to me it feels like with a compeltely stock exhaust and intake except the cat and stock muffler removed and replaced with the m4, the bike feels like it has less torque but makes a bit better top end. I can remember the bike feeling quicker with the stock setup, but that could be because i wasnt as used to the power.

Can anyone tell me there thoughts??? or if they have had there bikes dynod with this kind of setup let me know..
Anyone got something similar perhaps wit ha PC3 thats made much effect ?
Cheers guys

Yep mine had 9hp more than stock with my M4. It is about 8kg lighter and a shit load louder. :D

I noticed I had more bottom end and midrange with the baffle in. With the baffle out it all changed. Drop a tooth in the front to 16 and you'll be feeling the excitement again, trust me ;)

Yeah alright thats good then.. I remember the stock setup is really heavy. Perhaps its just that it lost a bit of bottom end guess that makes it feel a bit lacking.. But if its making 9hp more!

I havent taken the baffle out and prob wont take it out.. not for road riding...

Blurr did you have a PC3 ?

No just pipe that's it. Ran it back to back against a stock bug with similiar KMs and I had 9th more just with a pipe and baffle out

im wondering if a PC3 would make it a bit sharper perhaps.. Any ideas if the ecu would make it richer?

Didn't realise it added so much power. Leanne and I both noticed on her bike it pulled better from down low with the M4 over the stock pipe. I think it has improved the power delivery right through the rev range. It still desperately needs a TRE though for when you are not thrashing it. If it was a track bike you wouldn't worry about it but since it's only getting ridden on the road it would be good to have a bit more power under 6000RPM.
