So I set to fixing a problem

I stuck a new set of tyres on the beast today. While I was there. I never liked the look of that expencive but huge Remus muffler. So I set to fixing that problem. Before

Just you cant put the quiet baffle thingy in now . But its the first thing you take out anyway. It came with it, but I never fitted it. Also while I had it apart, modded the inner baffling, Man that made it sound different.. They really go to a lot of trouble to shut these things up I can tell ya.
I have a spare Yoshi RS3 for the race bike. So I looked at what Mr Yoshimura did & tyred to do the same thing with the Remus. I sort of got there. But without doubt, the Yoshi is made for performance, & fuk the noise it makes.
The Remus is exstremly well made, I guess thats why they are so expencive..it is obviously made for noise emisions.
But not now!!
So I think it is still much less noisey than the Yoshi on the racebike. But It sounds & looks a heap better than it use too.!! IMO

Take them off & have a look before you make your mind up. I think you,ve heard my bike on the old road?? It was pretty silent. Over 80Ks you couldnt hear anything. Remember
I modded the internal baffling so it would sound a little batter. You might be able to shorten the mufflers without effecting the sound.. Worth a look. Dont ya think??

Ha ha , the mrs took that pic on her phone, why you ask? because she's lost the bloody camara!! Man if I drop somthing in the shed I call her & without doubt she'll find it. But get her to put something away, & you'll never see it again!! Its like she's got a special place she puts things for safe keeping. She & no one else knowns were it is?

Did you manage to loose the old rivel holes for the badge or is one hiding behingd the new badge placement.

I must say though, it looks 100 times better. It looks like it should of originally, makers have swung to making pipes shorter nowadays.

Pipe lenth has a lot to do with performance. You might find that you have lost a bit on top but gained some mid range or the other way around. Or maybe no affect at all. Or maybe I need another Jim Beam.

Yeah I thought the same thing. But the shorter the pipe the better the top end. But Im still running the standard headers its made no difference at all. Just it looks & sounds better.
I cut 6 inch's off the end. Moved the badge along & refitted the db testing tag..

I think the reason they make them so fat & long is to get them through the US noise emmision laws.
But hey were not in the USA so F**k em I say..

Yeah I like loud as well. In the U.S. some states have extreme noise laws but although Utah is full of idiots, (me included), they seem to be very lax on noise regs. probably because of all the open pipe Hogly Doglisons running around riden by fat old men with long pony tails and leather vests. Naturally because HD is a U.S. product, (although a pile of shit) all is forgiven??? I was thinking of buying one but opted to get a John Deere instead.

Ha ha ha . Well you can get more use out of the JD,[eg: plow the field's go for a drive without breaking down, dont have to be fat & have a ponytail. etc etc,] than the Hardly Ridable!!
