I use one of the Ebay chinese plastic ones. Very solidly built and cheap, but it required some creative cutting to make it fit. It hits the two nuts that stick out of the latch bracket but simply cutting away the bits that hit have it fit properly. Also required the front mounts to be bent slightly to prevent side-to-side movement. Whether you need to do these mods or not might depend on where it is sourced, they may have fixed this problem by now.
However if I had a do-over I would just go buy a genuine one and not muck around.

I had an ebay one for the 636 (similar shape as the zeddy) ..... fell apart on the first outing.
Eric I ended up ordering a genuine one from Kawasaki & it fits perfect, colour is spot on & cost was about $140 from memory

Back on topic, dont bother with the cheapo cowl Eric, you wont actually save anything by the time you rectify it's deficiencies
Get tyhe OEM one
