I recently bought some 09 Zx6r calipers for my crim, but they came packaged in a plastic bag which was oily on the inside, I assume its brake fluid but its definitely slippery. The pads look like they r covered in this liquid, is it possible to clean it off or r these pads rooted now?

Brake cleaner is your friend

if they are not fully soaked that is

Taste a bit of the fluid, if it's bitter it's brake fluid.

The pads can soak in the fluid, you say they were covered? Id chuck em, & Tim I dont think "tasting" brake fluid is such a good idea

Go with blurr use brake cleaner then wipe with a rag works fine just test them befor goin high speeds and stuff.

Bin them, brake pads are chaper then a crash.
They may come good after some brake cleaner when cold but when they heat up may be a different story.

That's true, i dont know about the bonding coming apart, but there's every chance some of the fluid has gotten deep inside the material of the pad, and it comes out when heated up by use.

Oil or brake fluid on brake pads has the oposite affect that you would think. It causes the brakes to grab locking the wheel. I would definitly junk the oily pads. The problem with brake pad material, (with the exception of ceramic brake pads) is that they absorb the oil making the pads soft and grabby. You can burn it off by riding with the brake on until it's hot only to have it resurface at the worst time, (next time you have to stop). Have a shot or 6 of Jim Beam with a fine brew of your choice and this will all become clear.

yeh i decided to bite the bullet and bin them, not worth it
