04-05 ZX10R Thermostat
Hi guys and girls, i've noticed recently my fan isnt coming on. It says in the manual it should come on at 95 and go off at 90, mines been as high as 110 and it still isnt on. The fan works, i ran wires straight from the battery and it turns. After a quick glance at the manual it looks like the thermostat has the switch inside it to operate the fan, has any other 1st gen 10 owners had this go on them, and how much am i looking at to fix it? If its too much ill just wire up a manual switch I think. Cheers

Re: 04-05 ZX10R Thermostat
Haven't had a problem with mine, so I'm not much help.
My bike is in pieces on the floor of my garage atm as the engine is getting a new gearbox inserted so if you want to check any parts your welcome to drop by..

Update, the fan relay works, its the negative of the relay's coil not being grounded above 95. Does anyone know if the water temperature sensor switches this in the ecu or does it just supply the dash with a temp figure?

Re: 04-05 ZX10R Thermostat
Turns out a combination of:
Dodgy soldering by previous owner (auto electrician apparently) and shit bridging leads provided by my company, made for a fun time fault finding. Battery side of fan fuse was a little low. Oh well lesson learnt, don't trust previous owners who only rack up 10,000km on a 7 yr old bike, probably never rode it long enough to need the fan
