Do people not realise that rising on anything other than the track is illegal... Especially if you GAIN A PLACE?!

And I think you will find Marquez was in front of Rossi when he left the track.

Re: Laguna
Exactly right Wattie....you could even argue that Rossi pushed him off line earlier in the corner.

Re: Laguna
The crockscrew is heaps faster if you don't use half of it.
I have to say I don't agree with either Rossi or MM not being penalized for gaining a place and not making the corner. Of course you can enter the corner faster if you just make the track wider :/

Re: Laguna
I'd you watch the replay,
Marquez was in front of Rossi completely and even moved over in front of him before braking up to the corkscrew.
It was Rossi trying to get back down the inside that pushed Marc wide.
Check it out.

Re: Laguna
If he was so good, why couldn't be race INSIDE THE TRACK? Would it not be true that he was in front because he didn't have to brake as hard, BECAUSE HE WAS RACING OUTSIDE THE TRACK?
The last chicane at assen is heaps faster if you skip it too...
This gets penalised in all other forms of Motorsport except motogp

Re: Laguna
The way I saw it he was in front before he took a GP bike off road - which isn't exactly the ideal racing line - and he was still in front when he came back on. It isn't mandatory to lose a position and if he didn't gain one I can't see how its illegal. Why the aggro Pinchy?

Even Ben spies who was commentating said that Rossi was in the wrong because he braked later to get back down the inside of Marc, pushing him wide.

Re: Laguna
Yeah Rossi was definitely pushing him wide in the first part, and it looked deliberate (though that part is just my opinion).
But Marquez was clearly in front when he left the track so it wasn't like he was skipping a corner to get ahead.
I thought it was delicious to see it happen to Rossi (even though circumstances were different this time, in that Rossi got ahead by using the inside non-track bit on Stoner, while Marquez was already in front and was just recovering from being pushed wider it was still close enough to be sweet) and had a good chuckle. I really like Rossi and was hoping this would be his come-back year, I rekcon he has had the best race-craft in the paddock but he *can* be a very aggressive rider - this time it didn't work out as he was hoping. That's racing.
And if it's quicker to go off-track than on-track, I believe that is a course lay-out issue that needs to be resolved, not penalising "you didn't stay between the lines". Sometimes they need to run off-track to avoid an incident or to avoid making a situation worse and I'd hate to see more on-track carnage solely because they're avoiding using the run-off areas.

Re: Laguna
You know the best thing. At the end of the race they both had a good laugh about it.
I don't see anything wrong with it. He pulled away afterwards anyway so it's not like he got an unfair advantage.
Good on him, he's awesome for the sport.

Re: Laguna
MM said on the interview that he misjudged his line and that's why he got off track... it had nothing to do with Rossi pushing him wide.
