Starter solenoid??

Went to take the ER out for a blat today...nothing. Not a sound like it was doing anything. Lights and stuff worked ok. Took battery out, bought a charger, and like I thought, battery was actually pretty good, it only took 30 mins for it to reach fully charged. (By the way basic arlec charger on sale at Supercheap for $15!!)
So I am thinking the starting circuit probably is what is wrong here. Just nothing when I hit the starter, checked fuses under seat and everything is ok. So could this be the starter solenoid? Do I need to take it out and give it a grease or something? This happened last year too, but it seems only to happen in cold weather...which is why I initially thought 'battery'.

Had a similar thing happen to my Z440 a couple of weeks ago- went thru everything, including disassembling starter solenoid.....turned out to be dirty battery terminals....duh!
You in Woomba Woomba ATM? Give you a hand if you are.

Uh huh lemme know if you wanna hand. Got a couple of multimeters. Won't take long. Have you tried push starting? Sure it isn't sidestand switch or clutch switch or something? Tried it in neutral, with stand up????

Yeah, tried the push start thing...last year that loosened whatever needed loosening, but not this time...can't remember if I had stand up or down, but it would have been up while I was pushing it...

Just for fun I tried kill switch in both positions...but nothing...and I held it down for a bit too. Next weekend I will be able to have a proper look.

Well I read the manual before I went to sleep last night, and apparently they don't have a solenoid, but a large relay. Still it looks like a weekend job...as that is only one of several possiblities.

Well ya wouldn't believe what it was: a bug crawled into the switch block and got squashed over the contact. I have no idea why, but that is actually the first thing I checked. Lucky, eh?
