ZX2R Feedback Please

OK guys and gals, one of my guys at work wants to get himself a ZX2R(this weekend, blah).
I said I would request any info on the site for him that I could get.
So come on guys I know this is short notice but I will have to print off later tonight and in the morn to give him tommorrow arvo.
Anything other than the usual, tyres,brakes,chain and sprockets,bearings etc would be useful, thanx guys.
ps I don't know what I'm gonna look like test riding a baby ninja

Most of thr zx2's are grey imports and the compliance date is what the bike is listed as. eg brought into the contry in 2004 but built in 1990, the bike would sell as a 2004 model. i had a zxr250a for my first bike and it wasa great little bike. the only thing i had go wrong with it was the cam chain tensioner.

I had a ZXR250C & the only thing I found was the cam chain tensioner, but that's easy to fix. I got a mate to put a cam chain in it just before I sold it as well, but that was easy too.

I had a ZXR250C and the little end seized on a track day. The guy I took it to said it was the first time he had seen one do it and he used to work for an importer so had seen a few. I was very meticulous about checking everything before a track day so have no idea what happened. There were no other signs of damage that you would assume to be there due to lack of oil. Parts are expensive if you do something terminal. It ended up cheaper to buy a replacement motor than to rebuild the original. The replacement motor had a rattle in the clutch which disappeared once you let the clutch out. Another problem is the tank vent blocking which builds up pressure in the fuel tank when left to sit which then forces fuel through the fuel tap, floods the carbs and fills the sump with fuel. Just have to make sure that the tank vent works properly. It was worse in summer than winter.

Well, the ZX2R want has gone for the love of money..............the lad in question has a female family member who has a '99 ZZR250 sat in the garage for the last 12 months and hasn't moved.
The bike has only 18000 k's on it and is in that purply? colour, stock as a rock.
$2000.
Told him to pick it up on a trailer and not to start it, unless it has been started regularly.
I reckon drain all the fuel and refill, change oil and filter,brake fluid, good clean up then fire her up(probably gonna need new battery or at least a good charge.
So watdyarekon $2000 sounds fair enough to me if she's nice and clean and has a good motor?
Guy gets his license back in September so he's got quite a few weeks to sort it all out and get all his gear together.Gonna be a new member alert and someone to sell my mighty '9 too in a years time

Just gotta get this idea of buying a GSXR750 out of his head, my '9 would be so much better

Sounds fair to me if the bike is in a known condition, 18kkms at 2 thou? christ i'd have fallen over trying to get something like that when i first started out.

despite havin a zx2, i'm a big fan of the zzr250.
great bike, better value for money in my opinion.
but i'm a hoon so i love the zxr.
