Muffler- noice or power ???

Can Diffrent mufflers improve performance ???

Or can it jsut make it sound like a man or a mouse

Any slip on from a good manufacturer will increase your power. Although I have heard of cheaper ones making the bike louder but actually loosing power. Most of the good brands have dyno charts available showing a before and after so you can see roughly what the pipe will do to your scoot.

yeah, they're SUPPOSED to give you a bit more bang.... but i couldn't give half a toss about that

Well my bike now has a full system, it used to have the habit of almost no torque up until 4500rpm, but now the power seems to be a lot more linearly and come on from near idle (hell yesterday i was puttering along at 3500 rpm at one point and it didn't feel too low, until i came to a hill

).

But in all honesty its a bit hard to tell aside from the butt-omoter as the GPX is just a shitload more effing noisy now!!

Depends on the can and what other changes you make. I got a Staintune can, certainly increases top end power and is a bit more noisy. It comes with a removable restrictor, and I can feel the difference with and without it.

Some cans (and full systems) require rejetting as they allow easier flow through the engine, and the fuel mix needs to be adjusted accordingly. That extra power has to come from somewhere

definately require some tuning changes 95% of the time to get the real advantage from the pipe

probably not really worth it on a 250 IMO... especially when you have to buy 2 pipes!

I disagree completely.... Full pipes and can would give my 10R, 8-10 hp, and slip-on 3-4 hp. Now for the money, full system 900-1500 US, slip-on 250-500. Is it worth it?
As far as the loud pipes save lives,,,,,,,,, the noise is behind you nobody hears you coming. Loud Pipes annoy the crap out of me, if I could buy a system that would make my bike sound like an electric golf cart I'd own it. Stealth. I don't want something that makes me stand out; I don't need or want that attention.

I was referring to the performance of a 250...(as ZZrchikky rides a ZZr250..)....and I stand by my comment that it really is a waste of money (on a 250) - however, on most bikes above that capacity, then sure, performance pipes are worth the spend.

Mate, I was almost knocked off my brand-new ZX12 in the first 2 weeks, because the stock pipe makes no noise whatsoever.

Now that I have a RS-3 Yoshi can fitted, boy do they hear you

and guess what ?? No more *issues* at roundabouts, no more cars driving straight at you because they cannot hear you.....it works for me, and it works over here. If getting the attention of an idiot inattentive car driver saves my life, I will scream for that attention every single day of the fuckin' week.

You are more than welcome to ride around sounding like an electric golf cart, its your choice and your Life at stake.......

But when I'm riding my bike I watch out for everyone, I don't depend on them hearing me....
All the cops have to do is stop the car open the window or get out of his car and they know what direction your off too.... I'm not into that

Yes, this could go around and around......I know a lot of people hate loud pipes (I am no fan of straight through Hardlys either

), but if a car driver looks because he can hear something, before he sees something, then imho, it is far safer to have a bike that can be *heard* in the first instance ( it doesn't have to be offensively loud,) just not a 'whisper' that ,say, an electric golf cart makes

If you rode a 12, then it wouldn't matter if the cop sat in his car, got out of the car, or ran down the road to listen what direction you went in. In less time than it takes to read this paragraph, you are already over 3km away !!!!!!!! c ya later cop dude......

Best part of most aftermarket ZORSTS is the weight saving. On the toofiddy a single pipe with a bit of noise will let you enjoy it more & should give you better power to weight ratio which is always a good thing.

I have an exhaust for noise. it is much safer in traffic. In my opinion it is a must have. without one I have certainly noticed drivers cutting me off etc. with it on it rarely happens.
Think of it as life insurance.

My bike will hit warp speed with a can of tomatoes on the headers, so performance is secondary, and hardly noticeable.
