Another Newbie

Post by seany »

Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a bit and thought I should say hello. I'm a school teacher currently living in Melbourne's nothern burbs. A member of Netrider and occaisional user of the MRAA forum. It was a friend from Netrider who put me onto this site.

I have been riding bikes of one kind or another since I was a kid. Satrted on dirt then moved to road when I was 22. I currently have a 99 ER-5 which I bought last school holidays, although the boys at Redwing have done everything possible to make sure I haven't been able to ride it for the last 9 weeks. Normally though, I'm an everyday rider to and from work, hitting the hills on weekends and the occaisional tour. I love going on group rides so hopefully I can get along to some KSRC rides and meet everyone.

I'm very impressed with this site. Lots of great threads and advice. This is the first Kwacka I've had for more than a decade so I'm likely to ask a lot of questions about it, but i guess that's partly why everyone's here.

Sean. :D

Welcome Sean:

So what subject do you teach, how old are the kids? Seems to me that’s a tough job, when I was a kid I used to get licks, (paddled) so often my butt didn't burn too bad, (I got used to them). Can't do that in schools here anymore (US),,,,Most of the licks were for fighting, now kids here bring guns to school, (because there is supposed to be zero tolerance for violence)......I say bring back the licks, and let the strongest survive. I Guess I’m old school.

I'm a primary teacher by training but currently teach at a school for kids with Autism and intellectual disabilities. Used to deal mostly with the teenagers but for the last few months I've been teaching 6-8yr olds.
