a bit of a handy tweak for those of you with fuel guages

If your fuel guage is like mine and has a bit of a tendancy to be less than totally truthfull about how much fuel you have left (mine goes STUPIDLY past Empty withwell over 6 litres left in the tank) and want a bit more of a honest indication about how much fuel is left, then have a look at this link. I only just discovered the url tonight, and am going to try and have a go at tweaking mine so that it goes past e with about 2 litres left in the tank (thats about 30-35km if i ride sedately for the curious out there).

b.t.w. this tweak is exceptionally useful for me simply because my low fuel light sensor seems to be rather rooted :-\.

Thanx, I should have waved the mouse around more. Might give it a shot as my guage like most bikes isn't very accurate.

I always go by the tripmeter. I haven't had a bike yet with an accurate guage. Easiest thing I have found is to just ignore it and go by the mileage. Best one I had was an old GPz750, the one with the tank mounted LCD fuel guage. The warning light on the dash would come on with about 60 k's left till reserve. You could ignore it of a daytime but it would drive you nuts at night. In the end I changed the fuel tap (for unrelated reasons) to a Z1300 manual tap and suddenly the fuel warning and switching to reserve coincided by about 10 k's. I was filling up with more in the tank but at least when the stupid light came on you knew you were actually on reserve.

Dont know about a 6R but my 12 can get either 400k+ or >150k depending on what side of 140kmh you ride it

Bit of a tip for people who fill up before reserve. Make sure you cycle your fuel tap everytime you fill up. Found out a long, long time ago that not doing so means your tap will eventually seize up and will be rendered inoperable the one time you actually need it. Left me stranded (luckily not too far from home) until I got a pair of pliers to turn the tap. I cycle the tap everytime I fill up now.

Seems the CBR has only half the system. It has an electric fuel tap (as in I don't have to switch to reserve), but it doesn't have a fuel guage. I just hit the trip every time I fill up and that'll do for about 300k.

Yeah, it costs the same now matter how long you wait (in the end that is) so why not fill it up when you think its time....
