Hey guys, has anyone put on bar risers or something similar?

Would you recommend them? Have you had any problems, ie the bars hitting the tank or instrument cluster?
Helibars seem fairly exy and the second ones don't list the 03 zx6r on their site so I just emailed them.
Cheers

I have had two bikes that I have put after market risers on. Although I have not used the brands you have listed here. I had one set made by Rod of Tingate engineering for a TLR and they were a clamp style so very adjustable. I was able to get them into a position where they would not foul anything and worked quite well. The second set were for an FJR and they were also adjustable. The second set were froma german engineering company and they were really high quality. There were no issues with these ones at all. I think the things to look into are:
1. Will they foul any part of the bike, such as tank or fairing on full lock?
I think most of the high end adapters (read expensive) would have to bear this in mind before they manufacture a quantity so you should be right.
2. Are they easy to install? Read above answer! Plus some may require you to buy "cable extenders" or replacement cables. Or you need to adjust std cables to make em work. Some may also require you to re-route cables and wiring looms.
3. It can be surprising how a small difference (as in small change to posture) can make such a large difference to how you ride. I would say thou the difference is most noticable when you are more extended in your riding position. That is to say if you are already comfortable then the angle of your wrists is teh biggest difference, if you are not comfortable then they can make all the difference. And of course they also may not.

Paz,
This issue raised a bit of discussion on the ZX12R site some time back, have a look at the thread below ( three pages), might help you decide if they are worth it, also there are a couple links for American and Australian suppliers.
