What does it take to kill a Honda?

Post by photomike666 »

Some kind fellow left a corner covered in diesel this morning, and unfortunately I found it.

Wasn't anything spectacular, 60 odd kph turned in and low sided. Nothing I could do except watch the bike slide away and wait to stop sliding myself.

Wearing leathers is a really good idea for bitch-umin surfing, shame I was wearing the warm padded ones not the armoured set. Slight graze to left elbow, more grazing on left knee accompanied by plenty of swelling :(

Somehow the bike survived with minor damage - broken off mirror, broken off front indicator (leaving hole in fairing upper), scratched engine cover, scratched and cracked lower fairing.

Managed to ride to Mercy hospital where doctor was lack lustre and unprofessional. He started by dropping my lid on the hard floor, his way of putting it down  Decided as I could hobble that there was no damage other than soft tissue, therefore no need to X-ray. He then filled all the forms out wrong, including date and which knee.

The bike is now at an approved repairer awaiting quotes and QBE assessor.

Mike, I was having a quiet chuckle to myself scrolling down through those pictures (it's a Honda after all!). Until I got to that last shot. My eyes!! MY EYES!!!!!

Seriously tho, it's not good to have an off of any kind. Luckily you didn't get too banged up and you can but hope that they'll replace the Honda with a K.

What is it with crashes this year? I think this year is even worse than '04.

Thanks for the well wishes guys & girls. If the hon is a write off I'll def get a quack, but I think it's repairable. I'm just glad I have fully comp insurance :D

As for the bike being dirty Bobbie; it was fairly clean, but slid off the road and onto grass.

....bugger

Mike not good
glad you and the bike aren't too bad

but that knee
can I suggest you get a 2nd opinion
I got tipped off by an illegal turner about 9yr ago
and my knee copped it and did not look so bad
at Casualty.... a disinterested doctor said it was bruised
A week later I was in hospital having a broken kneecap
sewed back together

get well soon

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!
