i've got the same question too and found out it is not the case for the 1st question,
u can go to neatural, however it's harder than when ur at idle
because there are things that will affect ur use of force on ur left foot, i sometimes have to try few times before i can go from 6th to neatural to roll to work getting in from hwy into a service road.
it does work, just feels like it's more sensitive that's all i find

the positive neutral finder will ensure u get into neutral while not moving, but as rossi said, it doesn't work the other way, unless ur movin really, really slowly. u just gotta be careful and concentrate on ur gear changes.
however, where you changin between 1st and second?
if not, u could have found a false neutral

well..there is neutral...and neutral
the neutral you want... is when you come to a stop
(and its between 1st and 2nd and Kwaka puts a
neutral finder on our bikes to help us riders)
and
the neutral you DON'T want is between any other gears
...aka a 'false' neutral
and that comes from poor chain adjustment bad clutch adjustment
dirty oil or rider inattention
so which one is it???

just be more positive on your changes from 1st to 2nd and it shouldnt happen again, i still get them occasionally when i am being sloppy with the gear change
