yes and no
a normal screen has a curve or ONE bubble
a double bubble screen has an extra curved area
in the middle of the existing screen

and they push the air further up and hopefully over your head. (i.e. less wind in you face)

as Dave sez..they push the air up further
so if you do lots of hispeed stuff (or country kms) they are
worthwhile
the tint? not sure whether a fully tinted one will overcome
that problem...seems to me a clear or light tint might by the go

oh
and if you are thinking double-bubble
stay away from AMC (Aust M/c components) online
they are hopless ..I am still waiting to see if they
can sell me on for the 12
...I placed on order in.....January

cheers

I had one on my 7 that was GREAT on the track but at road speeds made my head bobble around, sorta like too much piss......
Seriously but, depending on your height they CAN turn a good bike bad as the make it better....
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

To answer your questions, yes and yes...

I have a tinted double bubble screen, makes a huge difference, the gauges are easier to read, it looks nice and yes, the lighting is improved in the guage area...
