The tolerance will be critical in this application - a 10% tolerance (brown? band) could be 90 or 110 ohms......5% tolerance (silver band) is closer, but an ECU is probably expecting an *exact* signal of 100ohm, so 1% tolerance would be ideal.......

sorry, I am an electronics *anorak* from way back......

Varden - do the very best job you can when soldering the resistor into the circuit - any bad solder joints can add additional resistance to a circuit...
An anorak Gos??

Thats good to hear :D

The resistor i have on order has a 1% tolerance where as the one i tried from RS had a much higher tolerance. The bloke at RS measured the one on the ign and it was exactly 100 ohm.

The next one should be an exact match to the one out of the ign, and regarding the soldering i'm using chocolate blocks (screw down wire connectors) cos the only soldering iron i have is a POS and i still haven't gotten around to getting any decent flux cored solder either.

well if its a track bike you can remove the splitter from the inside of the airbox its held in by a couple of poprivits, and is designed to slow down the bugs and rain.

Wont find one in a rr apparently.

The pair valve mod search for it on kawiforums involves disconecting some other plumbing you also dont need i found it stopped all the gurgle popping and farting on the overrun so you can hear the engine better.

pc3 :D :D :D hey i dont have one myself but it cant hurt.

I am old and slow but you already knew that glen just thought i would advertise. :D

So who has done the Pair valve mod?

Like Bob said removing the splitter in the air box is what The Americans seem to do on the 636, I thought that was in the kit parts things to do?

I bought my PCIII usb direct from Serco who are the Oz distributors for Power Commanders, but maybe you could get it cheaper or similar but with cheap dyno tune from a dyno shop? Dyno jet has a Igniton module for the PC now as well.

Are you ditching the 014 tyres?
Bob has a Penske triple clicker that he wouldn't miss!

Are you going to weigh it?
It would be interesting to see what the weight difference a Road setup V's Race stripped setup 636 is.

Yeh i have done the pair valve thing or had it done for me, it definitly made it run better but i am not emfatuated with horse power so long as it has some thats okay with me.

Never been on the dyno and when it gets so it needs to i will look at a 10r or something.

Just search on kawiforums for free horespower there definitly worth having after the free ones are the less coslty ones at 150 each then the horespower that are had by diminising returns they are 500 bucks each. :D :D :D :D

the trackie has an 014 on the front that will prolly last a couple of trackdays, the 020 on the back is bald in the middle. I may see mick about getting an 014 for the rear. i hear they are similar to pilot powers.

I'm pretty keen to strip my 636 whilst retaining the starter and magneto for the sake of convenience. I'm already removing all other road related stuff.

I'd like to see how much less it weighs, it already feels much lighter in the front end than my roadie.

I thought it was the 014 & the Pilot sport were similar & 012ss & Pilot Power were similar.
