Hand Grips
Ok, so I am replacing my left handle bar, previous owner managed to damage it through neglect, and have decided that while I am removing my left grip that I would change both as they are still the factory ones, and they are starting to annoy me, any suggestions on brand and type based upon a comfortable grip and overall satisfaction.

I just replaced the grips on mine as they were getting a bit ratty over time. I can't for the life of me remember the brand, but make sure they are gel grips, they are DAMNED comfortable.
handy hint for removing them, stanley knife and cut the f*king things down the middle. Putting them on, firstly make sure that you dont mix up the grips, the left one has a smaller diameter one than the right.
Putting them on, on the left side just put a lot of water on the bar and the grip, then grip the bar with your left hand, and use the weight of the bike and the palm of your right hand and force it on. its a bit harder on the throttle grip as its a larger diameter and often has the little plastic lugs to stop the grip coming off. Same idea applies there, but may require more messing about.
Took me about 30 minutes to put the right grip on, and 10 minutes the left, and remember, keep the things WET.

Grip glue works well also
Nice and slippery to help get the buggers on and sticks like poo to a doona once it dries (not that I know how poo sticks to a doona, honestly)

Thanks guys, Was thinking about the gel ones, so what about someone pointing me to our own step by step for grip replacement?

I like the idea of cutting them off though, stops the messing around, any special method of ensuring that the throttle side is even both ends to stop the binding?

When I used to change grips on the pushbike I always soaked them in hot water prior to putting them on as heat expands, hence a bigger hole to work with, don't see why a motorcycle grip should be any different.
Having said that, plenty of ppl here know plenty more than me so go with them and the grip guide

I adjust mine at the "adjuster" at the end of the throttle cable as it goes into the switchbox on the handle bar. But of course my bike is a ZZR... and your bike is a ZXR... could be different?Deserteagle wrote: Is there a way to adjust it?
Check out the manual page here and see if yours or a close facsimile is there.
