Embarassing motorcycling moments you've had.

Post by Strika »

I was talking with some guys in another forum I am on about some funny biking moments. At first I really couldn't think of any, but as people told their stories, a few came flooding back. I realise this has probably been discussed previously over the years, but thought it might be fun to hear a few of your stories. :D
I'll kick off....................

My 1st ever dirt bike ride, a mate leant me hi KTM 250 stroker. Left hand kickstart job. Wouldn't idle, but ran fine otherwise.

1st steep descent we encountered, I near on shat myself. It was feckin steep, and looooooooooong!!! (Goughs bay near Eildon if anyone knows it  ) I went last so as not to hold anyone up as I was slow!!!!

About 3/4 of the way down, the front tucked on a rock, and I couldn't get it back. I went over the bars, and the bike followed me close behind, pinning me face down, pointing head first down the hill. The rush of blood alone to my face from gravity near made me pass out, and the heat from the exhaust pipe didn't help. I could not move at all. I tried wriggling around and sliding, but the combination of body position, bike, and the steepness of the hill, conspired to keep me where I was.

I lay there for what felt like an hour, but in reality was probably only 20 minutes. The guys got to the bottom and a little further on realised I was not there. So they sent two riders back.

I can't tell you how relieved I was to hear the bikes motors rev as they approached the hill. As they got closer, both of them fell over with laughter at seeing me all tangled up with the bike still on top of me, and very obviously going nowehere!!!!

More like this clanger of mine.

1992 GSXR1100 H, following a mate on his new FZR1000. We were on our way to meet 40 other riders for a trip to the GOR i think from memory. As we entered the car park full of riders, ol'e matey in front of me, decided it would be a good idea to almost stop, as he went over the 1 inch driveway lip entering the car park. I wanted to bail left or right, but couldn't as other riders had also been tricked by his sudden and unexpected grind to a halt and shot past me either side. So on the pics I jump with the inevitable consequence of an almost walking pace front end lose, followed by a classic one legged hop and turn as i very uneligantly (think Jules on ice) dismounted and watched my then pride n joy spin on its side in circles. This was naturally followed by riotous laughter from 40 plus other riders!!

First time riding a mate told me this on a old rusty KDX150:
1)rear brake locks up so don't use it
2)front break does not work either
3)don't sqeeze the tank with your knees as it will fall off
4)if you get into trouble just jump off, the bike will only hit the trees or end up in the river
Oh and by the way the tires are flat, if you can ride this you can ride anything.
My comment was OH SHIT!!!

Off i went quite well then changes into second, throtle jamed ful on wheelstanding down the garden collected the side of the house, hands finaly let go jumped off and then BANG into the tree.

Needless to say got it started off i went again.

Dumb :? Na Just realy wanted to ride bikes.

Well lets see, hrm last Nov on CBR250 was heading to the city for a Toy Run meeting.
I didn't want to go, more to the point i didn't want to wear my leather pants that i had TRIED to wear in for the last 2 months.
I would wear them at my desk, walking around the house blah blah

Anyway on the way, stop to pick up a mate. He takes off, hubby and i are at the join of drive way and gutter facing straight across.
Hubby takes off, i take off only problem, the leather pants wouldn't give anymore, and i couldn't get my foot up. I was doing a 90degree turn just about.
My bike had been lowered by the previous owner, the road has a funny camber on it. My foot got stuck between the peg and the road. Yep i stopped, fell to the side doing no speed at all

Even funnier was the two boys up the street realizing what had happend and runing back to me with there helmets on

I lived, minor scratch to the bike. Brusied ego and that was that.

well i was dropping my ex off at her freinds..her freind was super hot...and 18.....anyway its just finished raining and i drop her off out the front...in front of the ex, her freind & her freinds mum (who happened to be one of the teachers at the high school i use to attend)...
gf gets off bike....road is slipperry..... right foot slips...VTR (200kg ish) falls on me, pinning my leg in a way i cant move..on the semi-wet road...the bar was digging right into my calf....thru my boots.....

my gf & her freind try to lift the bike off me...they couldnt... my mate pulls up behind me, gets off his bike, takes off his lid (all VERY slowly) and bursts into laughter....then FINALLY lifts the bike off me....

dunno wot was hurt more..my ego... my scratched up bike....or my badly swolen ankle that i couldnt walk on for a week...

No crash, just some ditch digging with the Shinko's...hence the

Tiniest patch of dirt with fence right next to it on a tight corner. Got both tyres in and out again, while leaning over, highsided out of the seat, but hung on, landed back in the seat and not a scratch on anything

Of course I felt like a totally Wally and Ponti saw the whole thing

most embarrassing...???
riding a (new to me) Suzi 750 'bottle'
and falling off it twice..on my first long ride
which was to Lorne
firstly....
entering the car park at the back of the pub..gravel surface
Smitty brakes, locks front wheel Suzi tips and slides

leaving me to hang onto RH bar with bike on its side
between my feet (no damage to bike or me)

and an hour later after having meal (and no alcohol)
I go up one of the back roads of Lorne to where someone
I know has a holiday house. To get there you go up a very steep
hill turn right at the top and you are there.
Since last time, idiot council has erected a Stop sign, at the top,
so Smitty stops, all clear, goes to go and finds he has stuck Suzi into
neutral with bike going backwards down the hill until it tips
and pins me under it...on the wrong side of the road
damage? broke the mirror
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

OMG where do I start
My whole motorcycling carrer is pretty embaressing
(Just because you CAN ride, doesnt mean you SHOULD)

Non stack? Top of the mountain we were playing on, last run, just a few crazies, everyone else waiting up the top. Come up pumped to the max, turn into the car park and decide to show off and do a "burn out" come drift with the bike still half turned/ half leaned (at walking pace) with me up over the top like bayliss on a duc at Assen (old dirt bike stuff) BUT didnt allow that the tyres were hot and sticky. How I never came off after a 10 ft cranked over sideways mono is beyond me..... I LOVE my 12

Everyone thought it was kewl and intentional until I got off freaking....

Seeing how far my 7 would lean at Darlington, right off the tyres apparently

I'll stop now I think....

OMFG, I've had a few.

I rode into work and decided to ride up and over a kerb onto the footpath. Unfortunately the young asian woman I was following decided to prop and search for something in her handbag JUST as my feet left the ground. Alas being a short arse, and the bike being a pig, down we went. Stupid bitch waited until I hit the ground and then kept on walking without looking back .

Two days later, same place, coming in from a different angle (not over the kerb this time). Stopped, put my foot down, hit a patch of loose gravelly dirt and down we went again. Same side  .

A couple of weeks later I went to go around a 4WD that was blocking my access into a servo. Being on a bike you can get away with this I thought, until I hit the kerb head-on and came to a dead halt with kids pissing themselves laughing in the back. At least I didn't fall off this time....

Then there was the time I lane-split to the head of a very long line of rush-hour traffic and stalled the bike at the penultimate moment holding everyone up while I screwed around with the clutch lever   ....but at least it did force me to fix the bastard that night.

There was also the time I got big air over a large bit of discarded wood lying on the Tulla freeway. It would have been funny in slow motion as my first reflex was to swerve around it. Then there was this moment of sick realisation that I wouldn't make it and the consequences of half making it would be to go airborne while on a severe lean. So I straightened up, throttled off suctioned my arse to the seat with a grip like one of those big MF squids you see fighting sperm whales and hit it head-on at about 80km/h. Didn't fall off, but the ZZR is not the most graceful of airborne beasts...

I did hit a drunk crossing the road once. I was turning left in front of oncoming traffic (hence looking over my right shoulder) when he blind-sided me. Knocked him A/T and he skidded along the road on his arse, and he took me with him when he fended me off. Bike went down on the RHS, broke off the hero peg with my foot. If he hadn't pushed me over I would have been ok, I had got the bike upright and nearly stopped.

I have also dropped the bike in the mud in the back garden a couple of times. Once I collapsed against a fence, and the bike pinned me against it (and I couldn't get enough leverage to get upright. The other time I was off the bike and she rolled forward off the stand and did a very graceful topple over.

Let me see...

i took a nice ride up to beachmont with my G/F 3 years ago, she on her FZX250 and me on my manly RF900. I gets to the lookout that was full of other day trippers, casually kick the stand down and step off bike only to find that the stand isn't down and the bike is heading to ground with me vainly tugging at the bars to slow its decent. To add insult to injury i couldn't pick the bastard back up and after my second failed attempt an onlooker rescued me saying "Oh well mate its what ya go to work for."
