05 zx-10r No red key

No, like MG said, you don't need the red key if you've disconnected the battery...it still stores the current key codes in the immobiliser. I have tested this on my bike and have had the battery disconnected a few times for a reasonable period of time with no ill effects.

or in the unfortunate event that you loose your last remaining key, get a motec ECU fitted that will work with any random key cut for your ign..... or toggle switch :shock:

gets rid of that pesky top speed limiter too. :lol:

Had the battery in the 10, in & out 3 times, charged from being totally discharged & it started every time with the black key no worries... I have the red locked away just in case :D

I'm in the same boat with my "crim" Roger hayes assured me i could change the battery over as long as i did it in a reasonably short period of time.
Still like to have a spare key though. glenn whats that other ECU cost ?.

i was going to buy a spare key from the US and i asked the seller if it had a chip in it to program it to the ecu. The guy replied that the US versions the immobiliser thing and therefore do not need the red key. maybe you can bypass the immobiliser somehow and then just get another key cut somewhere.

doubt it.... u'd have to change the ignition and ECU to a US version....
