If a helmet does not display the Aust Standards sticker it is deemed that the rider is not wearing a helmet and will there fore be fined accordingly. Yes the helemt is made to the same standards but with out the sticker you are breaking the law.
This also means you are unable to use the helmet at track days or for racing. I am not saying that this is policed but Murphey's law states that if you pay for a ride day or rider training and turn up with the helmet you will be the only one checked and not be able to participate in the day.

pulled over by plod on the OPH about a month ago and the good officer checked for a sticker on both helmet and visor. i knew that the helmet had to be stickered but the visor? the visor has it as part of the mould and he was quite pedantic. it was middle of the day and i was using my clear visor....

AFAIK the visor does not need to be AS1698 compliant; though many are labelled as such. Can anybody confirm whether this is correct?

If it is not an offence to ride with out a visor then why would it need a compliance?????

I'm pretty sure you don't need AS certification to race.
