Parts Prices - Clip On Bars.

Post by greenmeanie »

Been ringing around looking for replacement rh clipon handlebar as i bent mine during the off last sunday @ QR. Tried my usual wrecker...Al's @ Bowen Hills (no good) plus a couple others. Priced a new one @ Midtown just the bar itself nothing else just the tube $114. It's just a piece of metal tube .

Also didn't think it would be difficult to replace but here's the procedure:

Remove the bolt in the end of the handlebar that retains it. Remove the bolt that goes vertically into the bottom of the tripple clamp from the clipon clamp. Remove the steering head nut. Release the fork tube clamp bolts in the upper tripple clamp. Pull the upper tripple clamp off. Now release the clip on clamp on the side in question and slide it off the fork tube. The clip on has to be off the fork tube to remove the handlebar tube.

My rant for today.

I know how you feel mate, I just got the whole front end of my 7 back together and realised I hadn't done the bars yet. :x
Now I've got do the whole lot again.

i was gunna say that place at albion (they had a 636 there once, but i didn't need any parts at the time, and hopefully NEVER in the future as well) BUT....
could you try some pipe fabricators or metal machinists? there are a few on Pickering St. I think (near Darcy)..... I'd imagine bring them your bent one and they could probably make you a better one (stronger, lighter) for cheaper.
damn, i can't get over the prices those kwaka dealers gotta charge?! it is JUST a pipe, right? like nothing special?
