Input shaft nut removal
Hey all,
Trying to remove the nut on the input shaft so i can replace the clutch assembly with a newer one.
Any ideas how the hell you get that damn nut off the input shaft???
Don't have the "special" tool from kwaka to lock the basket in place but i've tried the brake in first gear method but no go.
Is it one of those nuts that you need to remove with a gun???

Re: Input shaft nut removal
Managed to borrow a snap-on one from one of the mates.
Fingers crossed this works lol

Both times I've done it I've had to make up a tool to hold the clutch basket. It doesn't have to be complicated but you do need to be able to get to the nut once the tool is in place. Here's the one I made for the z650 recently, the long piece locked on the rear brake pivot which meant I could get heaps of leverage on the nut without stuffing the gearbox at all.

Re: Input shaft nut removal
I remember trying to get the output shaft off my old gpx-750. Now i didn't have a powerpoint in the garage, so naturally i've not bought a compressotr :-\. So i got an electric rattle gun. It took a lot of effort and made a lot of ozone, but it got the bastard undone in about 20-25 seconds. So they do work, not as effectively as a pneumatic, but as a backup, they will work.
also locked the sprocket by putting a big chunk of wood between the spoke and swingarm, kept it in neutral as well just to avoid giving the gearbox an arseache.
