"I read that load of crap that Metho wrote. I have run car and bike dealerships, and can say factually that if you are unable to make money with a metropolitan mainstream franchised motorcycle dealership, then you are doing it all wrong!
The ones who are usually struggling to afford a demo fleet, are usually the ones who are also not selling due to poor retail practices. My best suggestion for them is to look at those who are successful and adopt an approach that mirrors that. And you do not need to be a multi outlet group to make money either.
A lot of these dealers do not deserve to have a franshise, with very poor adherence to the dealer agreement, and a load of flexibility usually shown by the manufacturer to allow them to retain their franchise.
Things are changing thankfully, with obvious improvements in the dealer networks of most manufacturers of late. However there are still the remaining stalwarts of the old gaurd who still think the general public owe them a living for owning a motorcycle shop!"
Rant endeth here!
