Common problem Ckikky

When you're changing gears hold pressure on the gear lever until after you have let the clutch all the way out. That way if you haven't quite found the next gear as you let the clutch out it will go in. This is probably one of the better tips you'll learn from the pre learners course (in NSW anyway) and one that you'll find invaluable when it comes to downchanges into corners.

Practise it a bit and you'll have your problem fixed in no time.

that'd be the problemo,
motocross bikes manage to do this very easy between first & second.

something about loose chains maybe ....

From ASS, never change gears in an up and down motion of your foot, always with a circualr motion....
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

Gears on motocross bikes are cut different - as are most race gears. It reduces the probablility of finding a false neutral, but will also shorten the life of the gearbox. A racer can live with that, high K rode riders can't.

To reduce the problem on the road - make sure your chain isn't too loose and keep your oil fresh (6000k pref, 10,000max).
